In partnership with the School of Engineering and Applied Science at University of Pennsylvania, the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Bioengineering allows La 91Ö±²¥ students to work towards a master’s degree in Bioengineering while they are undergraduates. This means, there will be no additional cost to you beyond your normal La 91Ö±²¥ tuition while enrolled at La 91Ö±²¥.
Junior students at La 91Ö±²¥ who are majoring in natural and physical science and math programs are eligible for admission into the University of Pennsylvania’s program and may enroll in courses at Penn that meet criteria for undergraduate and graduate programs at La 91Ö±²¥ and Penn, respectively.
To prepare to enter the accelerated program, freshmen and sophomore students may chose a four-course concentration in BioDesign, an emerging, integrated discipline drawing on design thinking, biology, engineering, and entrepreneurship to develop products and technologies that address unmet healthcare needs.
To apply to the program, students must have a cumulative GPA no lower than 3.5, as well as a minimum 3.5 GPA in all math, science, and engineering courses.
In order to complete the master’s program at Penn, students must graduate and receive their bachelor’s degree from 91Ö±²¥ at the end of their fourth year, and complete 10 credits beyond their undergraduate coursework:
Three courses will serve as bridge courses and will count towards an undergraduate degree La 91Ö±²¥ and the graduate degree at Penn and are taken at no additional charge above the regular La 91Ö±²¥ tuition price.
A Master’s Degree in Bioengineering opens the door to careers in which graduates:
I honestly chose to apply to the 4+1 program because I could not pass up the opportunity to advance my academic career at a renowned institution. I knew I wanted to continue my education beyond La 91Ö±²¥, but was not sure what route to go. Being presented an opportunity like this, I was first hesitant to apply because of fear of rejection, but now I am so grateful that La 91Ö±²¥ has given me the educational background and confidence to apply myself to situations that first seem unobtainable.
