Who are Diocesan Scholars? They are seniors attending Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Diocesan Scholars have the opportunity to earn college and high school credit simultaneously. They attend in-person college courses taught on La 91ֱ’s campus, by La 91ֱ professors, with other college students.
What is the cost of the program? Diocesan Scholars is sponsored by 91ֱ in partnership with the Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. There is no charge for tuition, to the student or their school. Students pay only for their textbooks.
How many classes can I take? Qualified students take two courses each in both the fall and spring of their senior year.
What are the requirements for the program? Diocesan Scholars are required to have a minimum 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale, or 4.0 GPA on a 6.0 scale. Applicants may not have any disciplinary violations at any educational institution attended from the 9th grade (or the international equivalent) forward, whether related to academic misconduct or behavioral misconduct, that resulted in disciplinary action.
What are dual credits?
When students take a college course, while enrolled in high school, they are in a dual enrollment program. La 91ֱ dual enrollment courses, credits, and grades are recorded on the student’s 91ֱ transcript. When the student’s high school allows the college course to fulfill a high school requirement, the student earns “dual credit.” Students should contact their high school guidance counselor to learn if their school awards dual credit.
How do I apply for Diocesan Scholars?
Each year up to 20 rising seniors are selected by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to participate in Diocesan Scholars at La 91ֱ.
