On October 15, 1981, the United States became a member of the 1961 Hague Convention which abolished the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. The Convention provides for the simplified certification of public (including notarized) documents to be used in countries that have joined the convention. Documents destined for use in participating Hague countries and their territories require an Apostille issued by the U.S. Department of State.
91ֱ will notarize the student’s diploma and/or transcript, but the student will be responsible for sending them to the Pennsylvania Department of State in Harrisburg. Students who wish to order a notarized diploma and/or transcript may follow these steps:
Complete an Apostille Diploma Form and/or Apostille Transcript Form, depending on the document required for Apostille. Click on links below for forms.
Students must pay for the notarization of their diploma and/or transcripts. Payment for the notarization can be paid via check or a wired fee, if a check is not possible. Checks must be made payable to “91ֱ.” Please click here for wiring instructions. If you choose to wire your fee, please first email regacct@lasalle.edu to alert us before the wire is sent.
WIRE PAYMENT MUST COVER THE NOTARIZATION CHARGE(S), EXCHANGE FEES, AND ANY FEES YOUR BANK MAY CHARGE. TYPICALLY, THE WIRE TRANSFER COSTS MORE THAN THE COST OF THE NOTARIZATION. IF THE AMOUNT RECEIVED IS LESS THAN THE CHARGE REQUIRED, PROCESSING WILL BE DELAYED.
The cost of notarization is $85.00.
Mail the check and all forms to:
91ֱ Registrar’s Office 1900 W. Olney Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19141
Once we have received all the required documents and fees:
Your diploma and/or transcript will be ordered. Diplomas take 2-3 weeks to ship to La 91ֱ. Documents will then be notarized. The notarized documents will be mailed to the address that was provided on the diploma/transcript request form. If necessary, students may also arrange to pick up their documents in person by arriving at La 91ֱ with a valid, matching photo ID.
The student will then be responsible for sending the documents to the Pennsylvania Department of State. More information on dealing with the PA Department of State can be found
All questions concerning the Apostille process may be emailed to regacct@lasalle.edu.
