La 91ֱ offers a variety of faculty-led courses through known as “Travel Study”. Travel study refers to courses taught at 91ֱ that involve a mandatory short period (10-15 days) travel during the semester the course is taught. In order to sign-up for a travel study course, students must contact individual faculty members.
Travel study programs offer students the opportunity to broaden their perspectives, develop cross-cultural competence, and gain valuable skills that can enhance their academic and professional goals.
Travel study also provides the following:
A carefully crafted academic curriculum designed to align with the learning objectives of the course.
An immersive experience. Students gain firsthand insights into the unique characteristics and perspectives of the destination.
Faculty leaders serve as instructors, mentors, and guides, facilitating learning both inside and outside the classroom while providing valuable academic and personal support to students throughout the journey.
A central focus of the program is to foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. Students engage in meaningful exchanges with local residents, participate in cultural events and traditions, and reflect on their own cultural identities in relation to those of the host community, promoting mutual respect and global awareness.
Cost: Students continue to pay La 91ֱ tuition. The course travel fees will be an additional cost and varies depending on the location. The fees for the course include airfare, lounging and transportation.
Application and deadlines:
Currently all faculty-led travel study courses are run each Spring semester.
A student interest meeting will be held at the end of April to provide detailed information about the upcoming Spring semester course offerings. This meeting serves as an opportunity for students to learn more about the courses, destinations, and academic experiences available to them.
Students will need to contact the faulty member to receive more information and to register for the course.
Important application criteria and information:
Minimum GPA of 2.5
Good standing with the university
Registration and Deposit:
Students must register for the course through the faculty member.
A deposit is required to secure a place in the course and trip. Details regarding the deposit amount and payment process will be provided by the faculty member.
